  • Experienced in setting up restful API’s and connecting systems flawlessly with the e-commerce platform;
  • Highly experienced in different database & storage technologies
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and use of message brokers;

About the company

The company is a Dutch e-commerce company selling 8000+ products from their warehouse since 2016. They have grown in 9 years to a profitable multi country business with a turnover Eur 25+ million. Selling hardware for the do it yourself (DIY) construction market. They deliver A-quality hardware from own warehouse, at sharp prices and backed by customer service.

What sets them apart are reliability of products, a webshop built for ease, fast and reliable delivery and knowledge and support that inspires their customers.They hired an agency to build the webshop from scratch. They started 2026 with the goal to build up an e-commerce development team in house to speed up development and conversion optimization. The development of the webshop should be transferred from the agency to the in-house team before the end of 2026.

Currently our client is using a best-in-class modern digital commerce stack designed for platform scalability, flexibility, speed to market, and omnichannel growth. Consisting of BigCommerce, Netsuite, Akaneo, Prismic, Channable, Klaviyo. The custom integration layer is in .Net (C#). For frontend React, Redux and Tailwind is in place.

About you

To be able to grow further and scale faster the client is in need of a data – process engineer.
You will be working on the following topics:

  1. Build, optimize and maintain data streams and reporting to ensure that the different stakeholders get the right data and have better insights in key organizational processes. This means getting a clear picture what information is needed, where this data is located, how it can be can be unlocked for analyzing & reporting by BI. If needed you can use R to You will closely cooperate with the BI team in supplying them with the right data to improve decision making. Besides unlocking the data you make sure data streams can be maintained.
  2. Improve the structure, availability, storage of data were it is needed and unlock data to different parts of our platform.
  3. Built algorithms like a product recommendation tool to advise visitors on new products based on their (previous) choices. For this tool you can work with R on the data.

Technology stack (strict requirements):

  • Experienced in leading, building and scaling an engineering team (4 years, high traffic e-commerce website, scaling it’s services, Multi-region setup)

  • Experience with BigCommerce would be a big plus. If not BigCommerce, experience developing comparable platforms is required. Platforms like Magento, Shopify, Shopify plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Swell, Commerce tools, Magento (Adobe Commerce);

  • Experience with the following systems (or similar) connecting the e-commerce platform: Netsuite (ERP), Akeneo (PIM), Prismic (headless CMS) , Channable (multi channel feed management for digital marketing) Klaviyo (marketing automation and customer data platform – CDP). So the experience we seek is about working with these different kind of systems like ERP, PIM, CMS, Feed management, Marketing automation. Integrating these with BigCommerce (the e-commerce platform) and using relevant data.

  • Highly experienced as software engineer in .NET (C#) to extend the Custom integration layer.

  • Experienced in leading a team with front-end engineers using React + Redux + Tailwind.

  • Experience with PostgreSQL. (Solid understanding of different database & storage technologies for any given task).

  • Experience with message brokers and event-driven architecture.

  • Experienced with hosting across Azure and fly.io. Azure is mandatory, for fly.io your experience with similar cloud platforms is suitable.

  • Experience with the following business processes: pricing, inventory management across systems and channels, payment, order and transaction processing (security, storage etc). Understanding how data flows between systems of the platform is highly recommended.

  • Experienced leading remote engineering teams in a stable rhythm of delivery. Strong in building teamwork and strong communication in teams. Agile methodology, scrum or Kanban processes can be helpful but should not harm teamwork or delivery.

  • You work closely with the Productowner. Experience with AB testing and conversion optimization is highly beneficial and gives you an edge.

  • English: preferably fluent, intermediate+ (B2-C1) is minimum required.

  • You are an active communicator, which means you are not waiting but proactively communicate with

    different stakeholders involved when needed.

  • Experience working at an e-commerce company as an engineering lead is necessary. For example online food delivery, e-commerce webshops (selling products from stock, warehouses) Leisure, events and ticketing etc.

  • When we talk about years of experience we mean years of project experience at the client side.

    (If you do not comply to the minimum years of project experience per stack, there is no use in applying)
