About the company

The company is a Dutch Tech company located near by Amsterdam. They build and maintain a No-code / Low-code platform. They market their platform globally. From small and medium sized companies to large international companies both use the platform which helps them innovate and move services much faster to new and existing markets. Their software platform empowers developers but also helps businesses build and deploy enterprise-grade applications easy and fast.
Examples of applications are mobile apps, (customer) portals but also back office management and everything in between.

The company employs 180+ people in different countries and is expanding rapidly.
They have the financial resources to grow and extend the company and invest in new markets.

About the development team
They currently work with 60 developers in 8 international scrum teams, consisting of topnotch Front- and Back End Developers, designers and DevOps engineers. They work partly remote and partly from the office. Besides these teams there is a separate customer onboarding team.

The teams are culturally diverse and speak English. They work according to the scrum-cycle and owns a part of the product from front to back. Being responsible for the quality, scalability & design of their feature. There is flat hierarchy and open communication. Teams report directly to the VP of Engineering.

Frontend technologies used are mostly React and TypeScript. The main backend language is Elixir, though they have some NodeJS services as well. Additionally they use Redis, MariaDB & RabbitMQ in the backend. The platform itself runs on Azure using Docker & Kubernetes.

The company maintains high standards, so testing is an important part of the development work within the teams. To help the team integrate and optimize automated testing processes and procedures they are looking for 2 QA managers (remote) with coaching skills.

About you

We are looking for 2 QA managers with strong experience in automating testing processes and procedures.
Besides in depth experience in helping teams and individual developers optimize testing precesses the QA manger is highly skilled in coaching developers to work accordingly. You have a structured way of working, commit to high standards but you always have an eye for developers and help them adjust their their working processes to ensure testing will be successfull.

The company is a fan of testing and try to cover their platform as much as possible using multiple layers of testing (Unit, Integration & E2E). They run these tests in our automated CI/CD pipeline.
You have the experience to increase the efficiency and quality of delivered code/features. Furthermore you’ll coach teams to refine acceptance criteria to ensure they are complete and testable, determine the regression and ensure that the test processes are followed up correctly by the teams during the sprint.

Strict requirements QA manager

  • You have worked 5+ years with a testing strategy and have helped development teams to adopt to a solid testing proceses increasing efficiency and quality;
  • You are capable to coach and if needed train developers about test automation and the proceses and procedures involved;
  • A strong vision on QA and communication and cooperation skills in helping development teams transform and optimize QA en bring best practices and standards into the company;
  • We expect you to have experience in testing complex systems and to be able to translate complex features into clear and testable acceptance criteria.
  • You help to keep the team focused on quality and help to make testing a shared responsibility of the whole team.
  • Experience with teaching and instructing developers about testing processes;
  • Patience, clear focus and hands-on mentality on testing proceses;
  • Experience with the tech stack (see above);
  • The company is flexible in choosing tooling, at the moment they use TestCafe for UI test automation and Jest as a test runner for integration testing;

Soft skills
Besides your expertise in test automation your soft skills are important in succeeding in this role. You are an active listener meaning you are familiar with asking questions to get to know what is required and you have good communication skills (orally and written).
You connect easily with developers and understand their way of working and can coach how to optimize quality of coding by testing. You are experienced in working remote in English speaking teams. You know you better communicate too much than too little, with your team, to increase quality of the platform.

English level

Your level of English conversation is intermediate+. This means you need to be able to discuss in English your ideas, proposals with the development team and stakeholders. If this is a problem for you, you are in English below the required level.

Finally you are a person who is curious and eager to learn and you take initiative. You are easy in connecting and collaborating with other team members.

Contract

  • Contract: fulltime, 1+ year (we are looking for fulltime hire for the long term)
  • Contract is including 20 paid holidays, 5 paid sick leave days and free on official national holidays.
  • 3 month trial period (evaluation after 1st and end of 3rd month)
